New affordable homes in Little Addington

little addington northamptonshire new affordable homes

Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association (NRHA), and partners Grand Union Housing Group and Oaklow Group, have recently completed a new housing development in the village of Little Addington.

The small rural scheme, which was strongly supported by the community, provides eleven homes for the village, including six much-needed affordable properties. The affordable homes in the scheme, which were completed in winter 2022, were prioritised for local people with a connection to Little/Great Addington.

We met some of the community at a public consultation event, who told us how important this development is to the village:

"I think it is very important to have more affordable housing in the village. It is the only way to keep local people, on an average salary, in the village - as well as being able to get onto the housing ladder."

"Housing here has risen exponentially. Villagers and especially children of villagers are being outpriced. I want to stay in Little Addington, near my family, I love the village and want to raise my family here."

The new homes, all identified in a housing needs survey, are a mix of bungalows and houses to suit people with different needs. Two of the homes are available for affordable rent and four for shared ownership sale. A further bungalow will be sold by the developer at a reduced market rate and the remaining four homes will be sold at market rate.

The homes are built to national space standards, and incorporate the latest in air source heating technology, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and helping to keep energy bills low.

NRHA is grateful to Homes England and North Northamptonshire Council for their support.
